  • Paint and Gold leaf…

    Posted by Jeff_Brown on 17 November 2010 at 12:51

Just finished this for a customer. All Waterbased paints, red varigated leaf, using One Shot size.

Just needs to be wet sanded and polished. Oh and the tank has custom concave side fabricated in…. Quite a big job!

It did not upload, now it has it all looks washed out! Colour is more vibrant than that in the flesh!

That looks really nice, that’s a skill that’s really dieing out over here. I love doing tanks, but there’s so little call for it in this country. You can only do so many Norton, AJS etc before it’s a bit tedious.

This country is very stayed in regards to it’s vehicles, I remember how stunned everyone way when I got a Sandrail, yet there’s thousands in your part of the world.

Very true Bob….. The custom paint / Airbrush market in the UK is very small at the moment. I know of a few fantastic artists there that have given up over the last year or so. Great shame. We moved here last year from the UK. It is tough, but slowly getting busier on the painting side as well as the photographic side.

Looks awesome Jeff and I bet it’s doubly awesome in person.

Is the striping gold leaf or paint?

Are you enjoying your new life in Canada?

Oh and by the way a visit to alcoholics anonymous might be a good idea!!! 😀 😀

    Keep up the good work.

It is paint, only the lettering is leaf, with some candy over it for colour.

I need the beer to steady my hand 😉 That is what I tell my wife.

The new life here is great, but it ain’t easy!! We are just preparing for the winter. We live between the lakes, so we are right in the snow-belt. The Canadians embrace the winter, I am having trouble with that bit!

There is a bottle of Drambuie there Jill… That one collects all my used blades. But I am sure I can find one with some contents! 😀 There are some fine beers out here. I lik the Rickards Red! Making do with coffee at the moment. Bit early for the hand steadier!

We have family on Vancouver island, they moved out there in the 1950s. I personally would say you’d made a smart move getting out of this country, and there’s a fair chance I won’t be far behind you.

I had made some noises about New South Wales a couple of years back, but I’m nearly too old to move there in my own right now, so I have trained the Mrs up to qualifications needed for citizenship so we still have it as a option.

Don’t want to get political, but I don’t feel this country is going to be good enough for long enough for us to live and to retire here.

    I spotted the Drambouie (sp)
My dear old 86 year old buddy makes me go to the state store and buy him a bottle every now and then.
But he’ll never let me try it he says it’s not for ladies.

Like I said, would really love to see a pic of the inset part because it looks like it’ll be cool.

I have been to Canada many times and always like it.
Niagara Falls is only about 4 hours from me.
I drove to Quebec City in 2003 for a Letterhead meet at Pierre Tardif’s place.
Been to the prairie and out to Edmonton.
The people are way more hip than my local yokels, and everyone there is always very polite.
But (I don’t smoke) their cigarettes are $10/pack and everything else seems pricier than down here in PA too.
