Outline Font ID Any Ideas?
Posted by James@MP on 10 January 2007 at 14:04Hiya, im looking for an outline font, like the one used on this battery, its an outline font i guess, after spending ages trying to colour fill it in corel draw. Had a quick scoot around on google and found things that i though looked familar but when tried them didnt look anything it. So i thought i would come and see the experts in the field and ask you guys.
Thanks for any help inadvance

Until I found this site I previously used http://www.fonts.com/FindFonts/search.htm to track down fonts I liked. It has a number of search features with the last one being a series of questions to narrow down possibilities.

Hiya fred thanks for the two posts but im kinda looking for the font, cause im producing labels for when these cells are built up into packs and thought it would be good if i could get the same sort of writing on the label aswell.
i imported those into corel draw and just got the out line, i think what im trying to find is a font that can write like the think white bits with either a transparent inside of the fonts or ability to change the fill colour not sure.
thanks again though fred
and to you graham, i dont think they had the font i was looking for -
Hopefully no egg sucking…(apologies if I am making you)…but have you tried a close matching font in Corel, beefing up the line thickness in white and filling the font red??? I’m unfortunately at my day job and cant try at the mo……

just had a play with adding lines round the found but didnt get the desired effect on the writing but thanks for idea,

but how do we know which one is you, cause there are two of you in that picture, or havent you had the operation to seperate your selves yet?
i guess it must be pretty hand, no need for a lunch a break, one can eat whilst the other one is busy at the pc. or whilst one is weeding the material the other head is checking whats going on.Sorry just my warped sense of humour.
i just seem to have bad luck with camera, no one makes a stong enough lense from cracking :pstill no closer with my font though 🙁 hehe

I’m the good looking one facing the camera :lol1:
Don’t you have the facility on your design programme to outline any of your fonts?
Looks like Arial with an outline put on it.

hiya dave, thanks for that one, on some of the smaller letters the outline was making a mess of the writing so i have reduced the outline on the smaller writing, and its getting closer now to what im trying to do, thanks for the advice.

Hi,
Had a little play in Corel beefing up the line width. Just to show it up the numbers have been done in Futura Hv with a thick white outline and filled red. Just to sow up the white I placed it on a red back ground. By adjusting the kerning and shearing the top its getting close. If you are very picky, convert the text to curves and adjust the nodes manually.

Not meaning to offend – so in all seriousness "will a customer know or care if it’s exact?", presumably the component cells are hidden.

Again, not meaning to offend – but for the extra 30 seconds it would take to apply an outline to a 99% / near-as-dammit font, or whole page of text this thread hasn’t half gone on a bit!! :lol1:
ps. If you have a better image – we could probably get a near perfect match as a font somewhere.
