Hi all i have a strange one here , i have a customer who has requested some internal signs either on Dibond or acrylic but they have requested that we dont use sign posts but they still want the floating effect.

Now i know that you can use split battens but im not sure what to use to glue with.
These cannot fall off so im being very careful

    any advice?

    thanks in advance shane

Sorry when you say "sign posts" are you referring to locators or stand offs??

What’s the reason for not wanting that sort of mounting? Something to do with holes in the wall maybe.

Batons are normally used to create a level surface where the substrate finish is very uneven but would work for what you want to do. How you attach then will depend on what they are being attached to and the size of the panel.
VHB tape may be an option if they are not to large.

many thanks for your reply Martin, stand off posts is what i mean, sorry i have been out sourcing signs for years so im not 100% sure what everything is called, The company have requested NO visible fixing and the sizes range from around A4 through to A0 for the reception.
    hope that makes better sense
    thanks again shane

I’d use perspex split battons. Glue 1/2 to the back of the panel with Tensol or similar acrylic adhesive and countersunk screws in the wall half so the panel hooks into position. A couple of stops either end of the split batton will stop it sliding out of position

    Cheers

If its just to avoid visible fixings then locators would work OK bond the male part to the board with penloc or tensol.
What size locators you use will determine how far off the wall they stand.
Stand offs are generally seen as a feature of the signs & can look very good with acrylic panels, are you sure the customer wasn’t talking about having screws showing when they mentioned no visable fixings.
