  • Options on how to apply a printed image onto work site hoarding boards?

Posted by Simon Worrall on 22 March 2019 at 18:13

    Hi
I have been asked to put a printed image onto a hoarding round a building site.
The hoarding is about 60 sheets of 8×4 ply that has been painted matt white.
Is there any short term (cheap) external vinyl with thick glue that will stick reliably to this surface?
Or has anybody got any better ideas?
I am trying to avoid the extra cost of repainting it with a vinyl-friendly gloss before applying vinyl.

    Thanks for reading this,
    Simon

I’d use mactac ww300, no need to lam, really high tack, I use it for rough surface floors, or try any other high tack poly, Metamark, spandex, vion, although you may have to laminate those

Surely a cheap vinyl onto 3mm foamex will be just as cheap as a high tack vinyl, plus installation time on site will be an awful lot less!

Yeh, but it’ll warp like crazy with the first bit of heat/sun. 3mm foam has two purposes…cheap indoor signs and filling up space in a skip!

All the building sites around our area have printed acm panels screwed to the ply.

That’s how we do it, cheap hoarding grade ACM panels.
