Lady in Tasmania is requesting a print of this train/tram schedule thingy, (see attachment). My question is, since this seems to be a public domain sorta piece, would there be any copyright issues? There’s a company in AU, that’s hand screen printing pretty much authentic $$$ reproductions, of these same schedules, but I wouldn’t think they could have rights to a public sign either. Of course I may be wrong.

I don’t know if they are still being used over there, but these reproductions are decorative pieces, wall hangings and such.

I usually say if you have to ask about a copyright issue, you probably already know the answer. But this seems to fall into a gray area. Would the town hold the rights? Train company, etc. ??? Could you even copyright something like this?

Thanks for any opinions, I didn’t know where else to post this, it wouldn’t let me post in the design section for some reason.

    Thanks Mike

I might be wrong here but I don’t think there is copy-write on just wording, I think there has to be some element of design which I don’t see in that picture, except for the diabolical kerning of some words.

That’s a listing of the Perth to Fremantle train stations.

Go ahead and copy it mate. It looks really really old so copyright shouldn’t be an issue at all.

I’m with Lee, copyright would have expired by now anyway, and I’m not sure it would be a copyright article anyway.

curious why a Tasmanian would want a Western Australian Train stop roll from an American company. :lol1: Its a small world this global village of ours….
