  • Opal Perspex or similar – gloss & matt sides

Posted by Lee Harris on 1 April 2005 at 12:23

    Hi All

I’ve got a customer who’s making a light table and he wants some opel perspex? or similar. It has to be Gloss one side and Matt the other.

Have tried Cox’s, my local supplier for Perspex? and they don’t stock anything like it.

Can anybody tell me where I can get a sheet Gloss/Matt opel Perspex? or similar from.

    Thanks for your help
    Lee

Can you not just wet & dry sand paper one side, or get it sand blasted… Can’t say i’ve ever seen anything like that, could be out there i suppose.

Why does one side have to be glass and the other matt?
Degussa do a range of perspex that is meant for light transmission etc – Called TrueLED – ideal for a light table. Their SATINICE comes in either one satin and one smooth surface or both satins
They also have a rear projection type stuff that would work well.

The problem we’ve found with using acrylic for our light tables is that it scratches too easily so we’ve started using 6mm toughened glass instead – similar pricewise but more scratch resistant.
