One-way graphics continue to be a popular choice for clients, the option of displaying branding or imagery on one side of glazing, whilst maintaining a view to the exterior delivering obvious benefits. By utilising the patented Contra Vision® Performance™ print method, The Window Film Company recently delivered a stylish example for a Hertfordshire based office.

After being contacted by the client with the brief, an Account Manager explained the possibilities and the methodology involved in the Contra Vision print technique. In the case of Performance, the film used is perforated, starting life with one side white and the other black. The white side is the printable area, with the black side left untouched. The perforations are evenly spaced and of a size that ensures they don’t have a negative impact on the appearance of the graphics. On the reverse side, the eye naturally focusses on the view through the small holes and naturally “joins the dots” – delivering the effect of an uninterrupted view to the exterior.
The print was undertaken by The Window Film Company’s in-house print team, using a Mimaki CJV30-160, one of the department’s three wide-format machines.

The print comprised 11 large panels, averaging 1.5m x 1m in size. Each section was hand finished and checked before being installed by one of The Window Film Company’s fully trained and vastly experienced fitting teams. The film was applied externally, above the entrance to the office, with the height of the glazing necessitating the use of a five metre scaffold tower.
Once complete, the graphics provided the building with a clear, professional looking sense of identity, clear branding and an eye-catching way of identifying the premises, all without blocking the view for staff inside the property.
Contra Vision continues to be a popular choice for a range of The Window Film Company’s clients. Director Micky Calcott explained: “Our print facilities include an Oce Arizona, which means we can offer the full range of Contra Vision techniques including Impress – the creation of one-way graphics using optically clear film. The finishes that can be achieved are stunning and the benefits to the client are clear. We’re pleased to be able to offer it as a solution and it’s rewarding to see a completed installation looking so good.”
