I can’t figure this one out, a 2 minute job in illustrator. I need to print two colours on my edge. One being Silver Medal and the other black. I can do it in three passes but would like to be able to do it in two.

I hope the diagram below illustrates what I am trying to achieve. I want to lay a chrome background down, solid but the cutline is offset and needs to remain clear (no print).

I then need to apply a design across the top in black with shapes removed however I can’t seem to knock the designs from the black background so I can see them as chrome.

I know I can run the chrome, run the black and then run the chrome again on top to achieve this but there is a significant cost implication when your running 10,000 at 300mm.

    Any suggestions, ideas greatly received.

    Thanks

    Jason

No as it needs to go onto clear for my client. I think I have worked it out now. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Fred, it applies it then to all layers including the base silver medal. I need to see the silver on a clear vinyl.

    Tried it.

I don’t think you can print anything on top of the chrome color, I know you can’t do that on Summa DC3/DC4’s atleast.

So you’d need to print the black first and then overprint the chrome on top of the black.
