omega 2.1 and vista – HELP please
Posted by Jason Davies on 12 June 2009 at 19:10Just bought a new PC, went to load omega 2.1 and I get an error message, Windows NT not supported. Install aborted. Is there a patch for this or do I need to upgrade, just a bit desperate to get the Edge up and running for tomorrow.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Dave, I owe you a couple of pints, thank you, it worked. I just have one more question, not being a PC expert, I have had to fit a parallel to USB lead, do you know how I can get my machine to see this, the serial port conversion is fine, does that make sense?
Thanks again

Did you really mean Parallel to USB and not the other way round Jason?
Hope all is going well?

Hi John, Parallel to USB is the problem for us, i.e we are running Omega 2.1 solely to power up our Edge, no design work etc unfortunately the machine is now in the skip and we have replaced this unfortunately we cannot fit a parallel cable to it and omega 2.1 does not recognise a usb cable coming from the edge. I was thinking of upgrading to 3.0 but can’t see much of a benefit, may well just buy a reconditioned laptop to sit on top of the machine instead just to power it up. Although that then makes the new PC redundant?? Arghhhhhhh
Hope all is well with yourself?

Jason,
There are only a handful of parallel to usb adaptors that will work with the Edge, I would suggest getting the one that Spandex sells, as it’s guaranteed to work.
I have one and it works fine. By the way, you will need Omega 2.5 minimum for this (or other adaptors) to work.
Not too sure if I can post a link here for some more info about it, so admin feel free to delete as required

Thanks George, I think I will buy a parallel card for the PC, this will hopefully work, I’ll check to see what the upgrade price is on Monday as well. Just needed to complete some work on it urgently this weekend, I’ve subbed this out now.
