in the uk i pay £5 per blade to sharpen cant remember the last time i bought new blades about 7 years ago – remember to flush out the blade holder now and then to keep the bearings sweet & clean

paul knight 01225 351625 & he does the first one free for you to try

no idea the first one i noticed wasnt cutting right, so i looked at it and a very very small piece of the tip was broken off,. the second one got jammed when trying to insert into the blade holder and did the same thing.

    Just noticed Juddr

    You’re in Auckland!!!
Not much good telling you about Paul Knight in England

Cost you a fortune in carriage and taxes

…….and they won’t allow you on the plane with blades either!

we use a company called edward mathias. they actually manufacture the blades and are 1 of only two in the uk that do this. most blades bought these days from suppliers in the uk originated in the mathias factory.
they offer a blade holder and blade in one. its a sealed unit so always spins like crazy, no dirt or grime gets in. the way they work is, you buy, say… 3 holders and blades. you use them until you are on your last one. you send back in “their” jiffy bag, & they return you new ones all sealed up and ready to go.. you just keep working it like that.
we honestly went through lots of blades in our 3 machines. since switching to the smart cartridges a few years ago (thats what they are called) i hardly use any? 😮
i spoke with harry only a week ago and he pulled me up for not buying his blades,, i told him.. i only buy from him so if they last too long thats his fault :lol1: :lol1:
the good thing about these smart cartridges is, i think i only pay £8-£10 each… and they last ages.. and ages and ages… :lol1:
i remember when we just bought our first roland machine, a pack of 5 “blades only” cost us £125+vat dont beleive me? ask marcella… she bought one from me about 5 years ago when she was caught on the hop and it was £25 for one blade. :lol1:
anyway.. im not helping much mate, sorry.. but ide say buy new as they last longer. but if you dont do tons of cutting a re-sharpened one will do the trick. who does it in your neck of the woods? god knows 😮
