• OKI Printer

Posted by Johnny S on 19 April 2004 at 16:47

    Hi all,
Just had a copy of Grafityp mag through the post, they have a printer that prints onto vinyl and business cards etc. I believe its an OKI 5300.
Has anyone got one or seen one at the show?

I know a few of us sell business cards so could be good.

    Any comments welcomed.

    Cheers

    Johnny

    Paul,

This may be a point of interest for you –
I’ve been looking into this for quite a while now & have just invested in a printer that I believe to be very similar in spec. to the OKI you’ve mentioned.
It is a XEROX (tabloid size) laser and so far is working quite well with the various media I am testing.

    Hi Gary

Xerox sell a printer that is a rebadged Oki, I think you’ll find.

I’m confident that’s the case Lee, as ‘deep inside’ my Xerox are bits with ‘Oki’ stamped on ’em.
Goodness, I’m boring – Got my head jammed inside a printer looking for the word ‘Oki’. I should be carefull … I could end up getting pixellated!!

Anyway, reasonable results so far with further media to test.

    Cheers,

    Gary

one point with the lasers, watch for toner build up ..it will mess media up. Suggest keep blank paper sheet for every 4 prints. RUN IT thru on white image to clean rollers etc with toner build up.

    Paul,

    Many thanks for your advise.
With what I’ve found with lasers, the clean sheet idea makes a lot of sense.

    Regards,

    Gary
