Now I’ve got the Roland BN-20 …..
Only had it a week but been so hectic in my day job and shirt printing, today was the only time I’ve had to get the software installed and the printer installed & calibrated!!
Printed a couple of things off ‘just for fun’ and delighted with the quality, I still haven’t tried the metallic ink yet.
I’ve got various media – gloss, matt vinyl, cling & flock but I’d like to have a go at wrapping a few small items i.e. phone covers, tablets and laptops etc. Would I be best off getting some wrapping vinyl? If so, what would you recommend – the Roland BN-20 takes 50cms wide.

great to hear john and please keep us posted on your machine progress, negative or good.
regarding wrapping those devices, are they not skins in kit form? i.e. flat cut kit to allow for buttons, screens etc? this being the case you wont need a wrap media as such.

Welcome to the BN-20 owners club!!
I had mine for just over 12 months and haven’t had many issues with it. Print speed isn’t the best, but fine for what I use it for. Have run loads of different media through it with great results.
Print / Laminate / Cut, even with thicker vinyls and laminates is easy.
I went on a Roland 1 day course last week (negotiated with service contract) and it was a big help, especially with VersaWorks.
Make sure you update VW to the latest version as it had a high speed (720×720) option on some media profiles.
It can also be fitted with 440 ink cartridges even though it does not mention it anywhere.

hope you are pleased with the bn20 did they tell you about the 8hr metallic cleaning cycle, presume its the same as the VS range.

I’ve seen some of the vacuum sublimation machines first hand and in promo videos – they do an excellent job. UK based machines are very expensive relative to the Chinese market £5 -vs- £1700 but you have to shift a few to get your return!
Having purchased the BN-20 wrapping covers etc just came to mind as one thing I might be able to do. Is it necessary to laminate phone covers?
I didn’t know the 8hr cycle for metallic ink but it probably is kicking off every 8 🙂 – I wonder what the waste is like per spit?
The prints I’ve done thus far have been very impressive and I’ve yet to use the metallic ink option. I just wanted to get used to creating cut-lines etc and that seems to be reasonably straightforward. No doubt I have a heck of a lot more to learn.
I think we havejust about as much as I can possible cope with now!

Brother 3 head embroidery – Been quiet lately as it needed attention & service, now done.
Rhinestones – great for embelishing DTG & embroidered clothing.
Graphtec for CAD-CUT vinyl – mainly textiles
Roland BN-20 – Hope it makes a return.Of course, we both have very demanding full-time jobs too.
