Hello Oracles of the Vinyl Cutting World.

I have an issue that I am hoping you may be able to help with..

    The story so far….
As a company we do a lot of logo’s on corporate clothing, Polo shirts etc.
I have a Goldcut 721 cutter and have been using Artcut with no problems (apart from Artcut’s limited abilities). I have recently upgraded the software to Flexisign 10 which is great except that now when I cut logos the cutter is not cutting exactly what is on the screen. e.g If I want to cut the letter H in an Arial Black font, on the screen the lines of the letter a straight and the corners are square, but when it is cut the corners are slightly rounded and the cross section slants downwards a little bit making it look like a different font.

I have changed every setting I can find but it makes no difference.
I’m thinking maybe it is a driver issue but I have the latest driver installed.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

    Many Thanks

    (mod-edit please read board rules)

    Welcome to our forum.

You need to search the forum for offset and overcut settings to apply to your Flexisign.

If you hadn’t said that you have just changed your software I would suggest it was a bad bearing in the cutting head or even a loose belt drive in the cutter. Maybe it is still worth checking even so.

How big is the letter shown in your photo?

    Simon.

    Hi Simon

The cutter works fine if using Artcut, It just goes wonky in Flexisign, so I don’t think it is mechanical..

It doesn’t matter how big I make the letters they all come out wonky.

I’ve tried all the usual fixes.. you know kicking it, Swearing at it, hitting it with a hammer and still no joy!

It seems crazy that a crap bit of software like artcut works fine and a decent software is having trouble.

Thanks for trying to help.. it is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Mark

Who did you buy Flexi from? Do they have a support line?

are you "importing" the file into flexisign or creating the text in flexi-sign?

if you are importing it then you maybe having issues with the file conversion.

a "say hello" post would be good as your a newcomer. 😀

I use a roland so am not familiar with your brand of cutter, but on the roland there is a menu setting called BLADE OFFSET which tells the cutter how far behind the pivot point is the point of the blade, so when it drags it round a corner the blade lines up before changing direction Rather than drawing an arc, you get an angle.
Perhaps your cutter has something like this?
The make of blades I am using require 0.25mm offset.
If you find this setting, try a few different numbers.
(This setting may be in the software instead, I am also not familiar with flexisign.)

    Simon.

Did Flexi have a driver for your cutter?

Chinese cutters do not have settings that can be changed from the control panel……….it MUST be done from the software…..in Flexi this is in the Prodution Manager.
You need to determine the offset of the blade you have fitted to your plotter…..then input that value in Flexi…the overcut is generally double the offest to allow for the rotation of the blade.

It sounds as if he uses a chinese cutter from the mention of the artcut software originally used.

Within production manager when adding the driver most chinese stuff uses the "Xpert DMPL Cutter" driver pre-installed. You Then have to use the correct settings.

    Settings:
    Bits per sec: 9600
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: None
    Stop Bits: 1
    Flow Control: XOn/XOff

Have a look at those settings, especially the Flow Control.
