To make number plates you need to be registered with the DVLA, you have to pay a one off fee of £40. You can get everything you need to get started from Tennants UK. They will send you a catalogue.

The simplest way to setup making a number plate is to use cut vinyl, pop it onto a reflective background and laminated it with the acrylic. All you need is the acrylic fronts, the reflective and a number plate roller. You’ll already have the plotter, vinyl etc. so its pretty straight forward.

If you ring Paul @ AutoMarque, he can give you an idea of costs etc.

suppose it pays to be on the right side of the fence just cheeses me off as i know they will take my money and then move the goalposts i have done a bit of research ringing around and to be honest the regs are a load of bull!
i needed a plate a while ago for my trailer went to my local motorist centre with my car told them what i needed. Log book sir.
That’s the car out there i said i had my insurance license etc still wouldn’t have it so made a rough one with std yellow and black vinyl
showed a Friend of mine, road traffic police officer thats alright on the trailer
he also said its really a problem down south with people duplicating plates for commuting in and out of major cities and avoiding speed camera and parking fines
