Newbie from Ireland
Hi Everyone,
My name is Declan Holland, from Athlone in Ireland.
I’m a new uksignboards.com member, and proud to be, its a great site, there seems to be a wealth useful available, and from looking through the many posts you all appear to be a nice friendly bunch more than willing to help and advise fellow members.
I’m a telecoms Engineer (by day), and took an interest a few years ago in making customised car number plates, and bought myself a SummaCut D60 cutter. However, the fancy/custom numberplate days are now numbered here in Ireland, now with stricter MOT/NCT rules and laws, so I now have to start making real signs.
I’ve done a few (8′ X 4′) exhibition signs on Corriboard and foamalite, a little (basic) vehicle livery and a shopfront sign for a local Chinese takeaway. So my experience is fairly limited and I’m hoping get involved in the many other signage areas. I’d like to be able to do more complex vehicle signage with vinyl and perhaps in the future invest in a digital print and cut machine. Vehicle wrapping sounds like an area to be in, and I’d like to go on a training course to learn more about it too. My longterm goal is to go fulltime with the signs, but I’ve a lot to learn before I’ll take that leap.
:jump:
I’ve been asked by a local electrical contracting company to their fleet (4) of vans, so I’m sure I’ll be posting many questions to all the experienced UKSB sign makers. Also, are there many other Irish UKSB members out there. I’d be more than glad to meet you. I’d be interested to know where you get your sign materials from, etc ….
Oh, I’m hoping to visit the Sign-UK expo in May. So I may be able to meet some of the other UKSB members there too.
Thats all for now.
/Declan
