I have never had any sort of signage in the current unit, such as ‘Minimum order is £££’ etc, but I will have the room to display them at the new place, so I was wondering, what customer notice(s) could you not do without?

:lol1: Joking apart we have this on the doors leading to the workshop to try and keep people in the reception area.

Same as Gary :lol1: Except mine says ‘Staff Only’

I have a price list on the wall as you walk in, it only shows vehicle graphics at the moment, but it give the customer something to look at, and they can get the feel for my business…

    Hi

Without a doubt, a no entry sign on any door you don`t want the customers to go through, they try to follow you when you go to collect something…

Our only other sign is telling the customers that a deposit is required with all orders and how they can pay, card cash etc. Remainder paid upon collection. and also stating that vat will be added to any price quoted to them.

Lol Denise, my current unit is extremely cramped (think Hugh’s shed but bigger) and customers still follow me, I’m only going 5 paces and they invariably bump into me when I stop to collect their order!

    Definitely a No Entry sign.
Deposit with order, balance on collection type,
Price list. I’ve never had a price list, I always say it’s priced on amount of vinyl used but I could make one, subject to variation, that is a necessity now, I think.

    Anything else?

All my prices are ‘from £xxx’

It only covers vehicle graphics as thats what I am pushing now I have the unit.

The price list enables me to ‘up sell’ but usually the customer sees that for a little more they can have something better.

You know what the ‘minimum’ is you’d want to do a job for, but if I am quiet I can offer them the next level up for a discounted price, or offer a discount if they pay in full at the time of ordering.

    Thanks Cheryl, fingers crossed…

A while back a couple of members posted notices which said something about ‘customers problems not being ours’ – not quite like that but funny, and to the point. I can’t find that now, does anyone recall where it was posted?

Carpets have been ripped up today, and the floors are being painted. I really need to start making the external signage…

Here are a couple David Rogers posted a while back. Both I think are correct.

"Nothing takes just 5 minutes" as we are all sick of hearing this every day from customers who want to interrupt other clients or get while-you-wait service.

Thought of also putting up as I saw it years ago:

    HIGH QUALITY
    FAST SPEED
    CHEAP PRICE

    Please pick two…

    Cheers

I like that one Gary LOL

We also have a " we do not offer a while you wait service" sign. but it doesn`t stop them asking.

I will be using all of those, I reckon. Could have made use of them many times over the years!
Do any of you have a ‘minimum order’ value? I do get asked for the most silly little things, often out of a scrap of vinyl, on the spot, and feel I can only ask for £2! I’d dearly like to stop this sort of thing.

yes we do, it does vary on the customer, the bigger the kn0b head the larger the amount

    quote Denise Goodfellow:

yes we do, it does vary on the customer, the bigger the kn0b head the larger the amount

    :lol1:

(Generally I have a minimum £15 order, below that I just give it as a freebee in the hope that it pulls a sale in later)

Mostly I do give it away, but it’s more the annoyance of being pulled away from whatever was being worked on, for a ‘freebie’, or as near as dammit. I think a notice stating minimum charge would probably work, as then the customer knows that it will cost at least that. I couldn’t just say ‘there is a minimum charge of…’.

I have a £30 minimum charge notice, can’t be bothered with the boy racers wanting stuff for nothing, don’t feel you have to service time wasters. I would rather sit on my ar$e for nothing rather than work for nothing. Never be afraid to say NO! 😀

    Thanks Nik!
Mike, I suppose it depends on individual businesses. I think I will put up a £15 min notice, then I can at least point it out to the ones who want something for nothing. I am too feeble to say ‘no’. 🙄
