Hi I have a new to me Gerber Edge 1 with Omaga 1.56 I have got it up and running but when I come to print it has the following message "parallel port driver missing" I have tried to configure the LTP2 using the info in the manual but to no avail. I have also used the usb dongle even though the printer is parallel. Any help would be really great 😳

Hi Joe, always good to say hello in the ‘hello section’ you may get a better response.

I would say that you may have a problem with the age of Omega and the current operating system you are running, but I am no expert with PC’s. I would suggest upgrading Omega to version 4.0. I think Spandex have an offer on at the moment. Worth also checking for any updates on the Gerber website.

    Good luck.

Hi thanks for the feedback do you know how much it is? I had looked at sign lab and flexi sign but from what I can see it is around £2k 😥 and I am on a limited budget

I think it’s about £500 if you are upgrading so pretty good really, give them a call

Have you checked the paralel port setting in your BIOS? Check and see if its set to ECP.

Have you tried plugging it straight into the parallel port on the computer and not using the usb converter.

    Hi Guys,

I have sorted the problem! Phoned Spandex and they said email them which I did and got no response and I am still waiting, so much for customer care, I could be a potential client and want a support package! But new business obviously is not top of list as they put current customers first, which I respect but come on at least respond!

The problem was with the driver, a quick search on google with the error message led me to gerber USA were they had a guide on how to install the driver and use the parfix utility, great all sorted now and just landed two jobs that have paid for half the equipment 🙂

One thing though the cut line utiliylty in tools > general decal cut is not the best as it is not cutting exactly around the artwork any clues as to how I can manipulate this or get it to use the edge of the artwork as the cut line. I am on omega 1.56 any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys!
