I’m no expert but I got one of these a couple of weeks ago…. I have no complaints about it at all.http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.a … id=gw694av

If you’re planning to print on your wide format machines from your laptop, some aren’t compatible yet Vista so you might wanna check first. But if it’s for personal use, then waiting for Windows7 might be an option. I’d look for one with a discreet graphics card.

I use a dell workstation m20 and its great.
Upgraded it to 2G and Its given me no problems in 3 yrs.
I fancy buying a second hand ibm t43 for having with me in the van for quick designs on the go.

What will you use it for? Work, home – travels?
I would check Lenovo (ex IBM) Thinkpad series first although they might be a bit pricey. Check Business laptops from Dell, HP. Usually their build quality is better than "consumer" laptops.
Macs can be a good choice, you can use both Windows and Mac OS on them, so you can combine work and leisure with them. But you will pay more for name and nice design. -

Good choice. I had one for few years and now have two IBM T42’s (one for myself, one rebuild and will eventually sell it). Very nice keyboard, sturdy Titanium Composite body.

get a Mac Book or Mac Book Pro, load VM ware on it and you have a PC for sign apps and a mac for the design. Once you get a Mac you will never look at another PC.
