New guy saying hello from Kent

Hi fellow uksignboard members, my name is Steven and I’m from Kent.
Having previously lurked and browsed the forum, I have finally decided to sign up and become a little more involved.

I first started out working self employed 18 months ago (or there abouts) making and selling Domed Decals. I previously worked in Retail, after graduating from Kent Institute of Art and Design (now called University for the Creative Arts) and studying Graphic Design.

I’m here to learn and ask questions, as well as hoping to provide some assistance where I can.

I will update my profile soon.

Hi Kev, I went to both Rochester and Maidstone campuses. Mind you was a fair few years ago that I graduated. When I was at Maidstone it was John Howard running the course, not sure if he’s still there or not.

I didn’t get directly into a job from uni, so started in Retail and like most got stuck in a rut… but now happy to be doing my own thing, and being a bit more creative again.
I hope your Daughter did very well at UCA and hopefully already employed in the industry. If not, my advise is don’t give in when applying for jobs even if you offer your services to work for free. It could allow you to get your foot in the door, show them what you can do and also importantly give you some much needed experience.
