Thanks to Allan Ashman at ATECH, my new BN-20 was delivered this evening.

    First impressions.
Looks great (although seems bigger than the pics in the promotional info)
Quick and easy to install drivers, software and VersaWorks
Set up is straight forward and everything is prompted via the software.
Flush each colour line then install cartridges.

    First print
Loading media is nice and easy.
Quality is excellent – much better than my old SP300
A little bit noisy – this could just be everything settling down
Print speed isn’t the fastest, but this isn’t a problem for my requirements.

Need some time now to play around with the metallic colours and figure out how to print them.

I’ll report back once I’ve had some quality time with it.

    my tip of the day
don’t make the test prints to big as it takes so long to print then you realize you got it wrong.
it does not work quite as you expect (or just me being dum)

    enjoy

So Jason, how are you enjoying the BN-20?

    Hi Dennis,

    I’m loving it.

Its a great piece of kit, and easy to set up and use.

Takes a bit of time to figure out using metallics in designs, but all good.

    Print quality is very impressive.

A lot of my work requires laminating and profile cutting. The BN-20 does this without any issues.

It takes up little space, which is a huge bonus for me.

Speed is it’s only downfall, but this doesn’t really affect what I do.

Most of my suppliers will slit larger rolls of media to match the 500mm width, so no real restrictions on media choice

All in all i’m really impressed. Well worth the money

yes Jason the metallic is fun finding that 75% or a bit less is more than adequate and is more robust than 100%.

So what’s the latest on the BN20 in use?

I’m sort of tempted but need some users views.

    Who’s doing the best price/package?

    Cheers

    John
