Hi Guys Customer as asked me for some lettering 2" High, to apply himself!

Just need an Idea on how to price this!

Theirs approx 240 letters in various words
I think I can get away with using masking tape instead of app tape and cheap vinyl,
I just don’t have a clue how to price this, As it’s something i don’t normally do Re Ray:)

masking tape is not suitable mate. yes it will work, to an extent, but will cause problems if not removed soon. ide expect it more expensive than application tape and tear much easier also…

    just thought ide mention…

Ray I charge vinyl for supply only at a per metre rate determined by the width of media and the complexity of the design. Standard decent quality 610mm calendered is £26+VAT per linear metre, and £49+VAT for 1220, weeded and taped. I charge extra on top of that for very small or detailed jobs with a lot of weeding time involved, and also there is an artwork charge on anything that takes more than a few minutes to design, both determined by my hourly rate.

    Hope that helps.

The 2004 price guide says $1.15 each HP pre-spaced RTA.
Since it’s now 2010, I would use cast, with real app tape, and charge him $1.50 per letter. Anything like reflective or specialty films would be more.
That comes out to about $360 on my calculator.
I’d never use masking tape or cheap vinyl, you want it to last for him rather than fading or peeling up in a year, and to be easy for him to use.
I always throw in a cheap squeegee when selling RTA.
    Love….Jill

    Thanks Guys.

Thanks John, I have a much better Idea on what I’m doing now…

    Jill thanks
As a guide line I was way off price wise,
Charging him him a lot less than as been quoted up to now,
What i didn’t consider properly was the amount of vinyl and time to weed As I don’t usually stock Mac-Tac 8300. which is what i planned on using.
But have some, That I got thrown in when I stocked up my 9800pro vinyl
I usually use Mac-Tac 9800pro, But it seemed a bit like overkill as the item wont last much over a year anyway.

    But point taken Jill.
By the way you sure grew up quick,
Last time I looked you were a 18 months old, On your profile Pic :lol1:

PS. Thanks to the Pm’s that confirmed I was way off price.

Yeah I went from 1 to 47 and from bald to grey overnight!
That’s from Saturday, I was all gussied up for a wedding.
    Not mine!

    Hopefully you’ve adjusted your quote.
As they say, time is money, and that’s a lot of weeding.

it works out at under a square metre of vinyl,
I wish I could get $360 dollars for it! but
it depends on the font used but should take no longer than 20 minutes to produce. I find little jobs like this are good payers, but if you go to heavy the customer will go elswhere, so it depends how much you need the work.
you would be making a good profit at £50. but price up to compete.

I’d charge 46 pence per letter which works out at £110.40
so if you take into account the meet with the customer or
    time on the telephone.
Setting the job up on the computer, cutting, weeding,
vinyl cost, appli tape and labour, delivery costs or meet customer
    when he collects, paperwork etc.

    The £110 doesn’t look enough now…. 😕
