    Hi all,

Been asked if I can produce some window stickers from self cling vinyl.
Two issues here, first issue is, I’ve never used it before, second issue is, I cant print onto it.
All they want is a star shape in white with some red text on, can I just cut the self cling to shape then apply the text using a regular vinyl? Would this work ?
The self cling vinyl, does this work "as normal" i.e. cut it, weed it, tape it?

    Thanks

It depends on which way you wish the cling to display. If you want it to display through glass it wouldn’t work with ordinary vinyl as the outer edge(the star) would stick but not the vinyl. It would hold in place but wouldn’t look very good.If you wanted it to display outwards it would work. You don’t tape cling just cut & weed, peel off & stick to glass or glossy substrate.

normal vinyl will work on clear window cling material if you cut your normal vinyl in reverse like you would if fitting to inside of a window then you will have a single layer of cling onto the glass before your normal vinyl!

Be careful using ordinary vinyl on to static cling because the vinyl will shrink causing the static cling to crinkle and drop off the glass. In the past I have used a cast vinyl that doesn’t shrink.

    Many thanks all,

I’ve decided against going for this job as I dont want to end up providing a second class product. I have however ordered a some cling so that I can have a play around and at least see what results I would have had.

    Thanks again
