Hello 😀 My partner and I run a small sign and graphic business and have recently been asked to make pictorial sign for our local pub. My partner’s experience is with corporate signage and installation and I have a background in art and design covering oil painting. Could someone give us some advice on the correct paints and materials needed for our labour of love so the image will last. Many thanks, Charlotte and Paul

Try that new paint from Wright’s of Lymm, Wright-It I believe, it’s their own formulation.
I’ve heard it has a nice open time and is smooth as silk.

If you use a lettering enamel like the aforementioned or 1-Shot, you won’t have to add clearcoat/varnish to it like you would if you used artist’s paint.
You may even want to talk to someone who paints narrowboats to find out what type of paint they use.

Same as Jill, you can get paint from http://www.craftmasterpaints.co.uk. As far as material I would opt for aluminium which you can get cut to shape from http://www.ashbytrade.co.uk
