Hi guys not been here for a while been busy doing other bits and pieces. Have been asked to replace the sign in the photo. The problem is I have no idea how the fitted it. The frame has been rivited together on the corners so I am unable to remove the panels without breaking the end pieces. What i dont understand is the whole frame is fixed to a piece of wood behind it. All these fixing are behind the existing panels, which I can’t remove as the frame is rivited together!! There is no room to drill them out. Or even fit the riviets in the first place.

usually they are riveted one end and screwed the other to enable to change the panels, did you check the other end?

Some photos to help you picture my problem. The solution is probably looking straight at me!!!

Checked both ends several times, I keep thinking I am missing something. I forgot to mention that the frame has 3 vertical braces evenly spaced behind the panels which must be fixed to the wood as well.

Looking at the pictures that’s not a sign frame. Looks to be right angle so the boards could easily have been put in from the front & then the beading glued or taped in place to retain it.

Most newspaper branded shops use these.
Often 1.5mm steel in alloy trim.

The inner trim is hammered on. Remove by wide screwdriver in corner and twist to pop out all way along…bit if a pain…and they are TIGHT and often corroded.

To be honest we NEVER reuse. We do an insert in 3mm composite to fit the recess bonded or screwed in or remove the lot and replace with a tray…depends on customer budget.

I was thinking of fixing inside as as well. I assume that the way this was fitted originally was the external frame is fixed, the panels inserted and then the beading hammered in. I tried to remove the square beading but it seemed to stuck fast, I thought that the rivets behind were holding them in place, but you think that they may just be well in.
