I’ll being completing my last job tomorrow. I’ve been in the business of making signs and display work for over 41 years and I’ve decided that tomorrow’s job will be the last. Letting my proper membership lapse last year was the start of the process and I noticed that it was near to 10 years since I joined. In that period the Forum has changed quite a bit and sadly quite a few faces have disappeared but I still enjoy reading about other people’s experiences and if I think I can contribute I will continue to do so.

It’s been a strange long drawn out process as old customers have kept asking me to do ‘just one last little job’ but I finally put a stop to it all last week when I gave away all my vinyl, so I can’t really do anything now without ordering new material. I’ve still got a lot of rubbish to get rid of in the workshop before I start my new career as a landlord, it’s amazing how much crap one can accumulate over a few decades

I’ve still got an pretty old, very basic heatpress to get rid of along with a couple of really old Letraset catalogues, brilliant for old typeface reference, they are give away items if anyone in the Basildon area wants them, or I could post the books. At the end of the month they’ll go in the skip.

After tomorrow – no need to get up early 😀

    Hi Steve

I’ve enjoyed reading your many posts over the years as well as having the pleasure to meet with you personally at the sign show a number of years ago. Enjoy your retirement/new career and I hope that (like Kevin) you can continue to contribute to this forum with your wealth of experience. :thumbup2:

I know you have been winding down and must be very strange giving it up completely.

Thanks for all the kind wishes. I took one of the last major steps yesterday by disconnecting the computer and all its peripherals from the Roland, which now stands alone just connected to the mains – in it’s all looking very bare in the workshop now.
I’ve still got my old heatpress to give away before it goes in the skip next week.

    Hi Steve,
What type is the heatpress? I can’t find the PM button so perhaps you could mail me on dragonsigns@hotmail.co.uk?

    rgds,
    Hugh

Steve, all the best with your new career/retirement. Be great if you could look in & still offer help & guidance for others in the same way Kevin does.
