    Morning guys,

Any Valuejet experts or owners able to help please?

My poor old VJ-1304 printer is on her last legs but I’m not ready to let her go just yet if possible!!!

    I get the attached errors…

E068Err CR Encoder: This one when the head isn’t docked and I power up

E074Err CR2 Current: This one when the head is docked and I power up

Some Googling etc tells me to change the CR motor, some tells me to change the encoder strip.

    Has anyone had this issue?

    Thanks guys [emoji106]

Give the encoder strip a clean with alcohol and a lint free cloth.
These errors can appear especially when docked as the wiper can flick ink up onto the strip.

Have a look at the pin that drops to unlock the head. That can cause motor and encoder errors.

I get the CR2 current error. For me it`s the pin that locks the head in place. It gets "sticky". All I do is put some cleaner around it using a wipe and it frees it up. You can work it in by pushing it up and down. Hope that helps. Took me ages to figure it out and constant phone calls!

Presumably there’s a reader on the back of the head that picks up the info from the strip? As errors are picked up every time I switch it on, having tried every inch of the strip, could it be the reader on the back of the head? (Assuming there is one!)

Yes, the encoder sensor is on the back of the head assembly. Remember the encoder on a Mutoh is called a T-fence, just to confuse people.

Seems to be fixed! Thanks guys.

I took a load of bits apart and eventually decided it must be the encoder sensor. Given that a good clean and put it back together (covers not back on yet!) and it seems to be happier!!

    Thanks again
