    Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has any advise for a problem we are having. Hopefully the picture shows ghosting we are getting when printing on the VJ1304 after a head strike with and end of roll that didn’t release from the tube.

Here’s a list of things I’ve tried to combat the issue with no change:

    – A different head has been put in to try eliminate the printhead
    – New head cables fitted every time a head is removed
    – Maintenance station swapped out
    – Ink lines cleaned out all the way from the cartridges to the dampers
    – Dampers replaced
    – CR board swapped out
    – Encoder strip swapped out
    – PF motor swapped out as we had a PF error every now and again
    – PF encoder swapped out
    – PF adjustment checked and test print seems fine
    – Tried different ICC profiles just incase usual profile is corrupt somehow
    – Different print wave forms don’t make any difference (wave, fuzz etc)
    – Increased platen temperatures incase static was an issue (can you tell I’m running out of ideas).

The only thing I feel we haven’t tried is swapping out the mainboard. We have a brand new and never used spare that we were given with a VJ1204 but I don’t massively want to try this if it isn’t likely to be the reason.

For some reason there are really bad banding issues at the start of the print. There’s noticeable banding on C, M and K too.

The shadowing is always to the left hand of the print.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated as always 🙂

    Thanks, Rich

    Hi Rich,

not that I can likely be of any help but what does the test print look like?

    Hi Chris,

I can’t seem to get a decent picture of the nozzle test, the camera won’t seem to pick it up clear.

There appears to be a little misfiring in a few places, even with a good print head.

We have a VJ1204 also so parts are interchangeable. Sadly the VJ1204 doesn’t print at 1370mm that we need for many of our jobs :awkward:

    Regards,

    Rich

When did you last have the maintenance assy replaced? I looks like it could be to do with the wiping function. Have you manually cleaned the head lately?
