  • Mutoh Valuejet 1302 user maintenance – advice please?

    Hey all,
I’m currently doing some sub-con work and am using a valuejet 1304, I’m getting to grips with it easy enough but it’s leaving a lot of thin black skid marks (head strike?) on the prints – horizontally, this is with the head in the high position and it’s still happening after a couple of cleans. the cleans only seem to take a minute or two, seems fast to me!

Is there any regular user maintenance I should do to tidy this up? I have read that it could be too much heat causing rucking in the media but, in the menu settings I can find no reference to this, any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Hugh

It’s the heat in the media is too high, also the temperature of the media might be cold, and when heated it causes a dampness in the backing paper to make the vinyl ripple,
Lower the temp to around 26C pre heat and ramp it up to 45 on the post heaters to cure

    Thank you Ian,

Do you know where I change these settings? from the pc or on the control panel?

    What Rip are you using?
I’ve had to turn the heating up in my print room to stop this happening.
You can always increase the head height, but may loose some quality.

    Hi Gareth,
the rip is VPM, designing on ai or signlab 9.1 first.

I’ll take a look in the rip settings once the current print jobs have finished.

Head height is currently in the higher position, quality is still plenty good enough for what we require here.
