Hello to all ! I have a question regarding a recently boughy MUTOH 1604W, which I would use for sublimation. I have experience with a 1614 EcoSolvent printer, which I run with SAI PhotoPrint 6, but I want to for the fastest possible printmode ( for ex. 2 PASS, UNI, 360/360 🙂 ) which I can’t do in SAI. My question is, what type of RIP should I use, which allows in its PROFILE making tool, to choose such a printmode to create a sublimation ICC, or the problem is that the printmodes are set in the printer itself and can’t be manipulated. Thanks for the help in advance !!!

    Hi Ivo.

I’ve just checked in the latest version of Shiraz and although it has the driver for the 1604W, it doesn’t have any profiles available as standard. However, the colour management part of Shiraz is very simple to use if you already have the hardware to hand (I use an eye1).

I’ve done a screen shot so you can see the available resolutions as standard. I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t be able to create profiles for 360×360 too.

Actually, I just checked and these are the only resolutions available. I would imagine that these are the only modes released by Mutoh in their SDK’s.

I hope that’s of use to you?

Thanks a lot for the answer ! Seems like Shiraz has also the BILLBOARD mode 720/360/Bi which is actually the fastest possible ( but more than suitable for sublimation ). I finally come to use Wasatch 6.6 , which I find quite ugly …but offers the speed I need !!

Shiraz can be downloaded in a 14 day free trial version if you want to give it a try? There’s no obligation to buy it at all, just type Stafford at Atlantic in the comments area and they will know there is a dealer looking after you.
