So my 1324, which was working faultlessly until I replaced the magenta cartridge has decided that it MUST clean when I turn it on. It is then throwing up the "Cleaning Cartridge not original" error. They are original, although I’m not sure of age as got them with the machine. The machine read the other cartidges, but threw up a not original error for the M cart.

Is there any way I can reset the machine, so it doesn’t feel the need to clean? Or any other suggestions?

    thank you folks.

    Thanks for the reply Kevin.

Unfortunately the issue at the moment is that it appears that the printer is stuck in the set up cleaning cycle and as it is not recognising the cartridges, I can’t now install the ink,

normally a board will have a battery to keep info when switched off, removing this can reset the machine but can also wipe out the firmware depending how the system is set up. Presuming you have switched off at the mains (un Plugged) the printer, if you do that and install either new cleaning carts or new ink carts as it boots up it may reconise the new carts and complete its operation.

Have you tried ‘freaking it out’ with another error to see if it’ll get over itself and behave?

eg. switch off and move the carriage off the capping station so that on power-up it’ll recognise that error first and maybe, just maybe settle down and give you a chance to get into the setup menus.

Did this on an old printer of mine when it got stuck in an error loop…

Cheers David, I’ll give that a shot tomorrow. It’s bound to be something daft, I’d prefer it not to be something daft that costs me a fortune first 😮
