Mug Wraps
Posted by Gi Graphics on 25 September 2003 at 17:12Hi
Does anyone know where I can buy mug wraps for dye-sub work. Have contacted Listawoods but had no response yet.
Thanks

Hi Lorraine
By the way, thanks for taking the time to reply to my last post. It was appreciated.
A mug wrap is a band that clamps the transfer around the mug so it can then go in an oven. Primarily used for volume work or a cheaper option to a press. Do you know where I can buy these ?
Thanks

check ebay a german company 3D imprinting technologies (i think) normall does them on there as well as a normal mug pressKev

I thought that was what you were after, just wanted clarification.
Have a look on ebay, you can get them at cheap price from a german comany called 3D engineering. I’m sure you could contact them direct if you want more than one, but they auction quite regulary, also look for the same thing as they sell in euro and aus $ as well.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? … egory=3180
They have two listed in £ one in Euro
Magic touch do a material band type one but i’m not sure if they are any good for oven use and they are arround £45
These are the only two places i know off

Hi Paul,
I’ve some on order from Cactus in the states. they are $20 each & even alowing for import costs, around 30%, they are still inexpensive, & well thought ofLinda

Hi
Thanks Linda. I did read on the State side forum dyesub.org that cactus mug wraps are in short supply. Can you tell me how long you expect delivery to take and who I could contact about a possible order.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

So, if you want to use an oven for your sub mugs work, you need these items then??
-
Thats right Kev, if you have loads of mugs to do, you can use these things to do them in the oven, but i guess you’ll need plenty of them !
-
Hi Kev,
My Cactus wraps are coming from http://www.conde.com. Cactus said they were on back order, but Conde have them & should be with me next week.
I’ve ordered 8 so I can work in batches of 4, one lot cook while another lot are prepared, great if you have a reasonable order.Linda

I take it you need the wrap, so you can cover 100% of the extreior of the mug?
-
Hi all
I’m not actually sure if mug wraps allow you to cover the full surface. My interest in them is purely for volume. The stainless steel ones don’t look as though they cover the full mug, when compared with the cactus wraps.Linda – I would be interested to hear if all goes well with your order from Conde.
Thanks for the help.

how long do you have to cook the mugs for, if using an oven?
-
Hi
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been let down Linda. I had read some bad customer service reports about Conde on dyesub.org. Thanks anyway for letting me know. Hope you can sort something out. Haven’t got any suggestions I’m afraid, but please let me know if you resolve anything.
Becky
I believe the usual time for oven dyesub mugs is approx 12 – 15 mins at 400F.
