    Hi Guys

Hope one of your clever guys can advice.

Many of you might already know that the MTEX 5032 pro is, in essence, a Mimaki JV5 DS 320 underneath the skin.

I recently experienced some issues with the feed lines that you print to ensure the step is right on the machine see grey line print attached. As you can see there are some weird lines going through the second line.

    I did the usual;

    – Check bottom of heads to see if anything is dragging along the print
    – Clean the heads
    – Perform a powerful clean
    – Clean the wipers.

I contacted the manufacturers and they told me I had head deflections and this is what was causing this in the grey lines.

Please see head plot attached, now I don’t about you guys but these head plots look pretty spot on to me, can anyone see head deflections in this plot?

Once the machine is printing the print is pretty perfect.

I have been told that replacing the head will sort this issue, now I’m sure this is probably the easiest route for an engineer, I’ve looked at many a head plot in the past and I must admit this plot looks pretty good to me.

Would love to know what you all think? Or if anyone can offer any advice

Is it even possible to fix head deflections?

Hi James. Looking at it from a JV5 viewpoint, that black strip you see will only have been printed using head 1, and would only be using the 2 black channels. I can see a few deflections on it, but no missing nozzles. If it was a JV5 I would be going in to service mode and running a nozzle test on head 1 only from the #TEST/CHK PATTERN and see just how bad the deflections really are.

I’m guessing the test draw is rotated so that head one is too right in the pictures by the way?

The machine has a touch screen so I’m not entirely sure how to get into the service mode. It says to hold function and remote key together but on touch screen this is near impossible

Ah right. I don’t know then James. I’ve probably got a spare JV5 control panel if that helps?

Doing a powerful clean wouldn’t help nozzle deflections would it?

Yeah, absolutely. Better still, put it on a nozzle wash and switch the thing off over night.

    Stafford,

So I managed to turn all heads off and left just head one active

See images of outcomes from the #TEST/CHK PATTERN

I can colour charts, black on its own and nozzle checks

Can you see anything out of the ordinary here?

Nice one. Picture 4/6 is what I was looking for. It’s a little difficult to see because of the weave of the media but you definitely have some deflection on the K channel and maybe a couple on the C. M looks Ok, but Y is impossible to see. That gives you a more true idea of the nozzle check. I would stick it on a nozzle wash and switch it off at the wall overnight so it soaks the heads. All of this is of course what I’d do on a JV5. I have no experience of your specific machine. Switch it on in the morning and run a couple of ‘fill up ink’ from the HD maintenance menu and see how it looks then. We’ll have a chat in the morning.
