  • Mounting Vinyl to Foam Board?

Posted by Edward Thompson on 15 December 2011 at 14:20

    Hi Folks,

I just wondered what technique you all used to mount Vinly onto foam board.

We usually use 5mm foamex and just use a standard white vinyl, laminate it and then apply.

Just wondering as we have had instances of little raised lumps and i also worry about the longevity of the board – say for instance if was used as a mobile graphics board, the corners would get scuffed etc.

    Any tips/techniques would be super!

    Cheers

    Edd

tell the customer to throw them under arm when returning them to the van

I usually find foam board quite forgiving to apply stuff to as the textured surface makes it easy to get the air out. It isn’t very strong stuff and if a customer wants something stronger try to sell them some aluminium composite. We always round the corners off on site boards and the like as a rounded corner will take much more of a bashing than a square one.

Shouldn’t really have problems applying to foam, as John has said it’s pretty forgiving. As for longevity, does it have any ??? Sorry but foam as far as I am concerned is not something I tend to use much at all and certainly not for any job where the customer is looking for any sort of longterm use especially anything mobile.
