  • Mounting Print onto Perspex & Glass?

Posted by Gary Paterson on 9 July 2008 at 08:36

Has anybody tried to mount a pigment ink print (ipf8100) onto perspex but by glueing on the printed side.

I have a customer wanting a print of their photo but onto perspex and just wondered if anybody had experience of mounting a print with the printed side aginst the perspex so the print can be seen through the opposite side?

Not actually tried any glue as yet but it will obviously have to be completely clear and no smudges etc. My other option is to sandwich the print between 2 sheets of perspex/glass but this won’t look so neat from the side.

    Anybody have any ideas?

I have used a product from GMP called Optically correct double sidded adhesive, good product but very expensive compared to normal double sidded, this was onto glass but should work on plastic.

    Regards

Thanks Russel I will have a look into it.

Fred – I don’t think I can get a clear vinyl that is compatible with the Canon ipf8100. I looked for a different project and couldn’t get anything.

I have to thinkabout costs as by the time I buy the perspex/glass and then print the job out and somehow attach to the perspex/glass I would probably be aswell getting it printed by one of the companies that can print directly onto the perspex/glass.

If I can find a cheap but high quality finish I can add it to my list of "can do’s"

    Same as Russell….
Optically clear mount film from Drytac.
Ideal for mounting reverse print backlit film to glass or acrylic.
Once mounted you cant see the glue.

I have using a product from Drytac call Roy Brown 07817815832

Its bloody hard to do a perfect job tho, dust, small bubbles makes it a nightmare.
