mounting print on reverse of clear acrylic panel?
Hi guys,
so many forums, so not sure if this is the right one for this question, but here goes.I have a requirement to produce prints on the reverse side of clear 10mm thick acrylic panels and it seems there are a number of ways doing this. At the moment I plan to print the image on paper, then laminate this to the reverse of the acrylic panel using clear optimount film, all done using a laminator.
However searching around the internet, there seems to be some other options, i.e print directly to the reverse of the acrylic using a flat bed printer (expensive), or print onto clear vinyl, then apply a white vinyl at the back.
Can someone please recommend any process they have used in the past to achieve this sort of sign, or is there anything I need to be aware of. The signs will only be used internally and have standoffs for mounting on the wall.

Is there a specific way to apply the vinyl, i.e wet, then squezee. Can you also suggest a basic printer for this?

if its for internal only then the paper print, and applied to the perspex with "glue on a roll" is probably cheapest and easiest way. ( glue on a roll, is just a double sided adhesive lamitate) used with a laminator.

Sorry ’bout the wait – long weekend!!
We use a Roland SP300, and mostly dry application (if it will fit the laminator) Bigger stuff we do wet, with a filt squeegee.

Peter, I don’t have a printer so tell me to shut up if I am wrong and I’ll get me coat but…….
If the print is applied to the back of the acrylic then that would mean you would be viewing it through the glue on a roll which I would have thought would mean the image would not be very clear unless you used an optically clear double sided film, I have a roll of optically clear film which I bought somewhere cheaply but normally these films are very expensive from what I can see.

If you apply to clear acrylic, glass , check to see if adhesive is waterbased or solvent, if water based the adhesive will appear milky and don’t use too much water. If solvent is fine. Vinyl is better than paper as glass flexes with heat of the day, back up with same standard vinyl in white (obviously clear adhesive)….
