  • Mounting Graphics to Substrate – is wet better?

Just wondering the preferred method of mounting a large printed graphic directly to a substrate.

I have always applied everything dry, as a matter of fact, I just bought my first bottle of rapid tac last week. I have made numerous attempts in the past to apply an extra large strip of solid vinyl, or a large 3′ X 4′ printed graphic directly to a substrate, but always had wrinkles and bubbles. However, the job I did last week I tried rapid tac and mounted the graphic perfectly without a single wrinkle/bubble, but was somewhat worried that I might leave a bit of fluid under the vinyl by accident.

Is there a secret method to applying large graphics like this without application fluid? I would much rather stick to the dry method if possible. Any input would be appreciated!

    Thanks
    Doyle

I always apply large amounts of vinyl, wet using Rapid tac, squeege well and leave it to dry. As for printed material, most of my stuff is printed onto paper and laminated, I then apply this dry. Once paper has had adhesive applied to the back and laminated on the front it becomes quite stiff so it isnt hard to put down on foamex. 😀
