Nice material to work with and the app tape they use is also very good, we have fitted loads and I think Peter N has also done loads, very easy mate .

Perfect kit, perfect to fit.
All fits exactly and shouldn’t cause too many problems.
If you use 3m surface cleaner be warned as it accelerates the glue and grabs very easily.

Derek the only problem is the aerial moulding, there are 2 types.
the flag will have a square hole cut in the st georges cross, BMW have an ally template to align to the square, and cut out the shape of the moulding,
You will need to either make your own, or be pretty good with a scalpel.Peter

yes had my finger tip on the nut but the possibility of damage to the liner was to high, so left it.

The moulding only comes off on the very earliest cars,
it is a major job to remove the head lining without damage,
easy enough to make a template, even from a bit of paper.Peter

on first gen 2001-2004 (pre facelift) they twist off but on facelift 2004-2010 they are from under the roof linning and its a bugger and time consuming thing to do especially when at a dealers – I usually ask the dealer to remove as a lot of trim has to be taken off also.
Therefore I have pre-cut templates as depending on the spec of the MINI the roof arials all differ in size and shape.
I personally don’t like the vinyl BMW use and always prefer if asked by a dealer to use my own.

hi all thanks for all the input on this one
still waiting for car and vinyl to arrive 👿
i have a couple of templates to go to so fingers crossed should be ok

would have hated to damage anything
the customer is bringing the car in and waiting .he hasn’t told his wife he is getting it done for her, just imagine his face as i try to lever the cover off !

Derek the small cut out to the rear is to denote its a genuine mini decal, looks like a comma

quote Phil Craddock:I personally don’t like the vinyl BMW use and always prefer if asked by a dealer to use my own.
The problem with using your own vinyl is that it is then not covered by bmw’s warranty.
I know it should not be an issue, but when original decals are fitted by a dealer, if a problem occurs later, the car can be taken to any bmw dealer and dealt with under warranty. They were using Mac vinyl, but had problems with the silver on the roofs and bonnets fading, now they have gone to 3m and avery dennison.

hi Peter, I know about the warranty issues but any BMW graphic or decal is classed by BMW as an Accessory from the Accessories catalogue and only has 1 year warranty anyway.
I have done replacement warrenty work on BMW graphics for MINI dealers on 1 year old vinyls supplied to me direct from MINI UK.
The old Silver they used is horrible and they still only use a satin silver whereas I use Avery 800 series which has a nice high gloss to it – much better I think.
My main MINI dealer is based in London, I was there yesterday a full 16.5 hour round trip doing 5 MINIs all vinyl was my supplied either Hexis or Avery material – they prefer for me to us my own source but other dealers will always want me to use MINI UK supplied !
