Mimaki JV3 Flexisign icc profile
Posted by Robert Neill on 18 January 2019 at 15:41Afternoon…. does anyone or can anyone recommend a good generic 6 colour icc profile for using my Mimaki JV3-130AP2 through Flexisign 10 ?
Just cant seem to get accurate colour reproduction no matter what I do.
Thanks

I was told by my supplier that a gloss SAV profile, such as Metamark MD5, is a good starting point. It’s how they start their profiling and work from there.

Thanks Neil I will have a look. It’s the start from there bit i am struggling with, I have it printing well, just the colours are so off

Can you change media? Profiling is expensive by a professional, is it not easier to change to a media that is profiled within your rip?

Yes possibly I have not really given that any thoughts doing it that way. It’s was more like a generic one i was wondering if there was one out there for doing canvas etc aswell

Hi
been a while since playing with Flexi but if you are getting colours way off chances are its not the profile but colouring intent, colour profiles for saved files etc normally because the default save value is wrong etc.Kev

Hi Kev, I wouldn’t say they are way off, just not good enough. If I have to print and hand you a pic you would think it was great. But if you then seen the original then you would see a bit of tone difference.in particular in greys ,silver’s, golds

Hi
do you know if Flexi 12 profiles are compatible id they are you could down load profile pack from here http://profiles.saicloud.com/ may be worth a shot, this may also help https://techsupport.signwarehouse.com/f … -profiles/ as default import settings can throw things offWhat vinyl are you using

Ye I think I tried that, could not find any for the material I was using (metamark)

Sure i used Oracal profiles 3164G with Metamark with good results although i run a Roland with Versaworks but may help you

Ok good man, I will have a look at that also. Ideally I should just sell the machine on as I just don’t have the use for it, and never knew it was so involved lol
-
Takes a lot of playing but once you have it right its a good money earner if you can get the work for it

So I keep hearing Kev, but I am not seeing it lol. Especially when I am not confident of what it produces is good enough to sell

If you look on the sai you tube channel they have a good one on the colour profiling and setting your monitor and printer since doing that I am getting pretty good colours. My normal vinyl profile is avery 3000 and it seem good to me. I’m running a Roland printer

A right, sounds good Graeme, I will give that a look. Thank you

Hi Kevin, I had a go at doing what the second link you sent me said to try. And it tells me to change the input settings for cmyk and grey etc. I can do that in production manager, but I see on the actual rip page that these options are greyed out and won’t let me change then, any ideas ?
