    Hi,

I have started seeing this error on my JV3.
The manual says it is caused by "the wiper position is not correct"

Anyone know how to correct this?

    Many thanks

    John

It’s probably time for a strip down and new wiper switch John, as per our conversation here:

Yes Stafford knows his stuff, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him publicly for nursing my JV3 1600s to full health a couple of weeks ago, I would recommend him to anyone needs a top rate engineer. 😎

I had a job cancelled today because of the snow so took the time to remove the wiper assembly and give it a thorough clean….. not too bad but much better now.
I soaked and cleaned the micro switch as it was gummed up.

Everything seems to be back to normal.

The sponge was useless…..is it important to replace this?

    Thanks again Stafford.

Thanks Andre, I’m glad things are running smoother now 😉

That sponge always deteriorates. The function of it is to keep the wiper clean when it goes back to its idle position. It’s supposed to be cleaned as part of the daily maintenance routine but was never documented in the original manuals. If you replace the sponge, it will prolong the need to strip it down and clean it out again, but it sounds like you’ve got that sussed now (until you lose or bend one of the circlips that is :lol1: ) If you PM me your address I’ll send you one as I have one that’s been rolling round the bottom of my tool case for a few months and can’t really sell it now.
