  • Mimaki JFZ200-2513 Issue Please Help!

Posted by Craig Whitehead on 28 July 2017 at 11:33

    Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some input from other users to some issues we are having with our new machine.
We are having some serious problems with the clear coat not printing to a gloss finish even at 100%, but it is also banding as well on the clear. The colours seem to be working perfectly!

The machine was installed in April this year and has already had 3 heads replaced by Mimaki. Apparently the nozzles keep dropping out!?
We use LUS 150 inks and have done since the install so nothing else has ever been used in it.
The engineers and suppliers have advised we complete the following:

    Add ioniser to machine
    Earth Machine
    Use Humidifier in print room
    Black out all windows
    Use climate control
Now they are saying we have to build a wall to separate the printer off from the rest of the print room

We have jumped through all these hoops, yet still cannot get the machine to operate as it should. We are at our whit’s end as it is massively affecting our workflow, does anyone have any ideas on why we would be having this issue when we have done everything asked of us? The supplier is blaming our environment however this replaced a previous Mimaki flat bed in the same room and location. At the moment it is a very luxurious table at best unless we cn figure out what the professionals cannot.

Thank you very much for reading this – any help whatsoever would be really appreciated!

    Hi Craig,
Feel your pain :(.. We have been in almost the same situation. Our JFX200-2513 is still under warranty and the head had been replaced twice already for the clogged clear & primer channel. Our current 3rd heads after only 2 weeks old started to clog again (without any printing clear). I wonder what is the solution to your printer now?
We also experience the dust problem when printing clear coat. It is impossible to eliminate the dust in the room as the vacuum create air disturbance. After these problem we just feel like to get rid of the clear/prime channel and replace with the CMYK..
I wonder if any members in this forum has some tips for eliminate dust and clear head clogging?

    Morning Craig.

I don’t personally know much about the JFX200 but I have a guy who does so I’ve messaged him to see what he can suggest. Also, I do use and support our own UV printers (not Mimaki) and can tell you that gloss can be vastly improved by printing the layer without the lamp and then raise the head a little and cure after printing. This will give you a really glossy finish and where the ink is not cured immediately, will also fill in any slight banding you might get.

I’ll let you know what our guy comes back with when I here from him.

Has the machine been problematic from install?
