Mimaki CG60sl Settings
I’m having problems with my machine does anyone have any suggestions.
It is not cutting as well as it did so i purchased new blades but this is not the answer. when i cut the blade just touches the vinyl & misses cuts – it is unweedable.
The blade protrudes about 4mm and the maximum settings I have tried is SPEED 20 PRESS 130 OFFSET 30 before it cuts the backing paper, and ruins the vinyl & it still misses cuts
I’ve tried it with original settings – SPEED 20, PRESS 50 OFFSET 30
I’ve tried new blades
I’ve tried different vinyl
I’ve tried everything in the manual ( I think )Any Ideas what could be wrong, the machine is less than a year old and its certainly not over worked ( mores the pity )

Goodness me. 4mm? The blade should only protrude the thickness of the material you are wanting to cut – about 80 microns usually.
You could try upping the pressure some – 50 is a bit low, even for a new blade.
Other than that, I can only think that you have not got the blade holder fitted into the Mimaki properly.

We use a CG-130FX and a CG-75FX for our everyday cutting, which have a different blade holding arrangement, but also a CG60 in a box under the bench which we only get out when we are mega busy. I’ve had a look and ours doesn’t say SL on it anywhere, just CG60, but I am guessing that it is the same basic plotter, just maybe missing a few bells and whistles.
On the basis that it is the same, undo the knurled nut that holds the blade tight and make sure that the blade holder is as far down as it will go, right to the shank, then re-tighten the nut.
Try again.
added on edit: are you sure you’re using the right blades? Mimaki normally have 0.30 offset, while most of the other makes of machine use 0.25.

just to let you know the problem was the new blades, they were faulty,the company apologizes and are sending me replacements.
got other ones now and they’re cutting great at the recommended settings
