  • Mig welder image

Posted by Simon Kay on 26 February 2006 at 08:56

I have a mig welder as a new client, not just a stick welder or a tig welder but a Mig welder.

Apparently it is very important to differentiate.

I am in need of a head and shoulders shot of a man Mig welding with the business end of the welder in shot too.

Ideally it would be a photo that I can play around with.

If no-body has that then a decent clipart would do as well, maybe.

Could anyone help me out, please.

    Thanks.

    Simon.

Hairier chests, more ape like arms 😀 . Sorry, I dunno.

I think the helmets are the same and that is going to be the main part of the center piece anyway. The ‘tool’, as far as I know looks the same too! 😮 , I think the difference is in the package behind the tool and as I’m really only after a head and shoulders shot, I reckon I could fudge it.

So I think the main thing would be the helmet, cos I want to put some holographic in as the peep hole in the helmet so that you get that flash effect when you drive past – just before you crash into the car in front because you got distracted by something flashing. 😮

If you reckon you have a flash bit of clipart I’d love to see it. 😳

The original idea was a photo printed onto vinyl but if I can get a bit of clipart to look groovy enough then I will. :lol1:

    Thanks,

    Simon.

Right…… this one here is a small very rough jpeg, but have a look and tell me if this is along the right lines and I’ll see what vectorised artwork I have….

…oh and this guy is very hairy…..

    Hey George,

Thanks. That’s the kind of thing. If it was a wee bitty more front on I’d be laughing chocolate biscuits.

By the way is that a Mig ?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is frequently referred to as MIG welding. MIG welding is a commonly used high deposition rate welding process. Wire is continuously fed from a spool. MIG welding is therefore referred to as a semiautomatic welding process. 😮 😮 😮

    got that!!

Great, one job I’m about to lose 😉 :lol1:

Hey simon I had a similar problem a while back, and Leigh sent me a file similar to the jpeg of Marcella’s.

The thread is here http://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.p … der#105604 and the file is at the end of the ‘discussion’

    Cheers

    Marcella thanks,

I just saw your image. Have downloaded it and will check it out momentarily and get back to you.

    George,

I love the helmet anf he could be frig welding for all I know. 😮

    Shane,

Thanks mate. I will still push for the photo image route I think unless someone comes up with a brilliant image and I’m also going to need several 400mm square images of his product printed up once I’ve de-backgrounded them. Can you cut them to shape after you’ve printed them or does it have to be square or round ?

    Cheers Folks.

    Simon.

    Marcella,

Thanks but I don’t think that’s what I’m after. Hairy though he may be.

    Thanks for trying though.

I can get some photos for you but not till tomorrow. Are you in a hurry? What sort of images do you want? These wont be high res photos as the camera is only 5mp.

Sorry to upset the applecart but George has got his piccys back to front, the first of the guy welding is a TIG welder hence in his right hand he has the wire, if you look at his gun you can clearly see at the back of it a “spur” which holds the tungsten needle to give the arc, the wire is then fed manualy into the arc.

George’s second picture of the gun is a MIG, no “spur” needed as the wire feeds through the cable leading to the gun automaticaly.

Like i said, sorry, but definately a difference between MIG, TIG, ARC and CODED.

Hey 2 blue you’re obviously a man who knows his welding. 😀 Thanks for the advice.

    Matt,
If you have the opportunity to take a head & shoulders shot with the flame tip in vision too that would be the duck’s nuts. Ideally take the shot from front on as if you are the bit of metal being worked on. Flame/welder does not have to be operational 🙂 . That would be very kind of you if you happen to have the time to do that. You are a good man. 😀

    Goop,
    Thanks man, that’s a possible. 😀

    Thanks everyone for your help.

    Simon.

    Hi simon,

Managed to get some shots. Bit of a rush though i had loads on today. So forgive me for the roughness of the photos mate. If theyre no good give us a shout and i’ll try to get some more time on my side and take some decent shots. i seem to screw the quality when i send photos on here. And only a max file size 0f 350kb.

    Hi Matt,

I really appreciate your efforts and would love to see what you have done but the moderator seems to have taken exception and has edited, even though this has been an interesting thread.

    Sorry Dude.

    Thanks for trying.

    Simon.
