  • Metamark MDX issues?

Posted by Mark Piddington on 5 April 2014 at 16:26

    Hi,
Has anyone else had installation issues with metamark mdx vinyl?
I recently completed a partial wrap for a customer and have had issues with the glue coming away from the media! i have always used avery vinyl before but was talked into trying the metamark and find it harder to fit and as mentioned just doesn’t seem to want to stay in any of the recesses!

    hi robert,
I was fitting in a warm unit around 20 degrees. it was the air release. today i’ve tried the mdxb which i’m guessing was not the air release. it was printed for me by another company who left it to gas off for 3 days before laminating but it was still a pain to try and fit. it grabs to the vehicle as soon as it comes into contact and is very hard to get the air out. i’ve given up on it now and am getting somebody else to print it on to the avery.
As i’ve just bought my own printer i was considering going back to metamark products but this issue has really put me off.
I will try and attach some pics of the van before and during the removal of the original mdx

I’ve tried a couple of rolls now, supplying print only and customer fitting, and I have had issues with the gloss laminate having a mottled finish on it, and the air release vinyl having stripes of adhesive missing thus rendering it useless.

Metamark have been really helpful and have always offered to change the rolls but it is always after the stuff has been printed and weeded 👿

Trouble is my customer loves the stuff, says its really easy to apply.

    Id agree with Ben!

Hats off to you mate one of those i wouldnt of attempted with mdx

I have used the material on site in harsh conditions after applying the correct way I have no complaints, still wouldnt use it for a full wrap on a sprinter or something, dont have enough confidence in it yet

Metamark in general I have had a few issues with bad batches but these were always swiftly replaced

Just ordered a 25m roll to try on a ‘budget’ job we’ve got in.

Not enough £££’s for 3m 180, so opted for MDX, without air release.

    Thank you David…
I know that was a couple of years ago so one would hope the material has sorted out any past ‘issues’ by now…

We had looked into using this too for a previous job, however th efitters that had the contract refused to fit it due to the issues that others have had.

So it was back to what we know for us..

The material looks nice and feels good to ue but to many people are havng the same issues and concerns for us to use it long term at the moment.

However I would be up for having a play with it on something like a sprinter, just to see for myself 🙂
