memory upgrade (cant find second slot)
Posted by James Martin on 17 September 2008 at 20:30Hello
Ive bought a pair of memory upgraded for my laptop to give it 2 gig in total.
Ive managed to locate one slot and remove the memory expecting to find another slot underneath or something; but no.
It definitely takes a pair it currently has two 512 installed.
Ive been googlin for over an hour trying to get a clue.
my laptop is a dell precision m20.

You have me baffled, read this 3 times and I’m still lost.
You say it has 2 slot and your looking for the second. Then you say it has 2 x 512m installed……..so that’s 2 😕

Take a photo of the slot(s) if you can & post it up for us. Every laptop I’ve ever seen has (if not just the one) two slots in the same area – stacked almost on top of each other.
Just clicked one of those links – yup…time to undo the other 20 screws holding the bottom of the laptop on!
Crazy setup…

Nice one Mark
I stuck one in at the back taking Dave’s advice and right enough it came up 1.50 when I booted up again.
I’ll have a go at the kepboard removal.
I been rummaging around dells site for ages and couldn’t find that Mark.
Thanks everyone, will let you know what happens.

yep did one similar the other month but similar dell..
just be very careful with the monitor hinges and plastic case, you can break it easily if the keyboard removal doesn’t show the memory easily.. i think it will tho.

Wow Mr Rowlands that avatar is something else.
Anyways, success with the memory upgrade, illustrator boots up in an instant now.
Tried opening a half gig eps there and it only took a few seconds.
thanks everyone and that video was the biz Ian.
