    Hi,
I’m having some issues with a Rh2k+. The media in which the problem appears to occur worst in is a 2m wide banner material. The main problem is that there are wrinkles occuring in the media as the printer feeds. This in turn causes head strikes. The secondary problem is the media skews gradually from one side to the other. It appears to be a tension problem(?) as the media is tensioned in the middle section more so than the sides, before it goes through the pre-tensioner then the media rollers. These problems occur regardless of the takeup. One of the pretensioner bars has a slight(1-2mm)bend in it. Could this potentially be distorting the media and be the source of my problems? Does anyone know how to correctly set up a printer so that the media does not skew?

So far in attempt to solve fix wrinkles, the heaters on pre, platen and drier were lowered to 30 degrees each. Different rolls of the banner were tested. Kind Regards,
    Eddie

hi.. When a roll is on the machine, is it spirit level square to the printer and same for the take up… something sounds like a touch out of squarness, our old mutoh albatross was adjustable so not sure about yours.

Hi, i use a rockhopper 2 and had the same problem but only on wide rolls such as 1600mm wide, especially on banner material. The problem with mine was the stainless steel at the back where the roll feeds on to was all warped. It wasn’t really noticable until i looked at the media clamps from the front of the machine and noticed that to the left the media was raised before the clamps, which meant the stainless had raised causing the media not to roll freely, causing it to ripple.
We had a new stainless back fitted and it was ok after that. The engineer said it was a design fault ( of which the rockhopper has many). The problem arose from the fact that they only used 3 or 4 fixings to fasten the stainless, where it needed a lot more because it carries the heating elements.
If you put in some media and clamp down, look all along the media and you can see if it is equally clamped or under some strain.
