Material info for versacamm vp540 …please
Posted by Ade Ward on 16 July 2008 at 09:28Hi all
We recently bought a versacamm vp540
Just wondering what people on here material wise liked usingWe have been using metamark MD 5 and MD 3, came with the machine as samples.
seems to be the one people prefer..Roland use it so thats the big hint i expect.
We use both metamark and europint for our everyday stock.
Had some reps asking about us using there stock for the digital side of things.
Orajet from europoint and xerox with there versions of metamarks range.Metamark seems more expensive but to be fair its great material.
Has anyone used anything else??
Whats your thoughts??Thanks for the help..

I had many materials to try when we got the roland but I have to say after many prints we now only use MD3 and MD5
-
after recomendations i am also switching to md5
rich what profiles are you using
Derek

using the correct metemark profiles
for MD3 AND MDRthese also allow roland colour matching and I can print at high speed with fantastic results which is a time saver
-
thanks rich

i am printing straight from signlab and dont have the profiles listedDerek

Richard….
How do you use the Roland colour charts with Flexisign. -
TOP SECRET
Sorry wish I could, we design in both corel and flexi but can only change colours from corel
sorry rich would be nice if the colur pallet worked in flexi -
I am using the MD3 aswell, I do find that I get a slight banding on greens even when using the correct profiles. Is this something others are experiencing.

hi
I had my roland vp 54 installed 2 weeks ago.
I was also wondering what materials to use.I had a 10 meter roll of md5 with it the results where grate.
I also had a free 50 meter roll of LG gloss white its ok when printing from versaworks on the avery mpi 3500 profile. when printing from sign lab its shite canot find a good profile for it, the ink dose not dry quick and when it feeds it back in the rollers smudge it all!!!
I have also run md7 that came out grate to ( no problems with the greens )

Scott,
If your cutting after printing do not have the rollers placed anywhere that they will track through the print when it feeds back through. I would place them outside the printable area.

Ade, I wouldn’t go past Europoint for media. Orajet stuff handles well and prices are pretty keen too.
Nick.

yes mart
it would mean i would only be able to use 2 rollers. shouldent be a problem though.

thanks
as i thought, md3 and 5 are my choice to.
thanks again

Hi Nick…
Even the reps from europoint say metamark is made for the job…
Orajet seems bit cheaper, not used any yet, waiting for a nice sample from them…
just ordered big order off metamark for media..got plenty on so need to get some stock in.
will give orajet a go when i receive sample then decide.
not much between them i expect, price like you say is better with europoint..thank for the info Nick
