  • marks left on dibond from cling wrap

To prevent any scratching during transport I wrapped my dibond sign in this cling film wrap (shrink-wrap?!?). But when I took this off I noticed it has left marks on the white dibond (where the foil stuck onto the surface). I tried rubbing it of with a damp cloth with a bit of washing-up liquid, but no luck.. Has anyone experienced this aswell and any tips how to remove it? I don’t want to use anything to harsh that might affect the glue of the vinyl letters. 😮 Any advice is welcome… Thanks

    Hi Angelique

I had this happen with some really thick cling-film type plastic, very tacky, and it left marks where it had been. I never did find how to remove the marks, I never use the stuff now. Ithink it was OK on foamboard, but not good on shiny surfaces.
Sorry I can’t be of help.

I have seen similar on a piece of white dibond i left outside, when i took of the protective film. It had been out for quite a while, a scrap piece. But this had similar marks. Must be the trapped moisture maybe. You could try using some white car polish or teacut. This will probably remove it. I use T cut on dibond if any small marks and works well.

Hmm t-cut? Yep I can certainly try that! It was just so weird.. Trying to be ultra careful not to get marks on it and then this happens…….. I was thinking lighter fuel as it seems to work well for cleaning, but I am sure that would affect the glue on the vinyl. I will certainly give the t-cut a try (finally get to use it… if you saw the state of my car.. it is clear that I don’t use the stuff to often……..)
