    Evening all.

I have a Gerber Edge II which has developed a rather nasty fault. At the start of last week, I turned it on. Straight away I smelt burning. It was turned off straight away. I turned it on briefly a few times to see where the fault is coming from and it is easily seen through the hole where the fan sits.

As soon as it is powered on, you can see bright orange which turns into flame. It seems to be behind a circuit board and maybe at the solder where one of the green ‘capacitors’ is attached.

I’ve left it with my local Spandex supplier who have had it since mid last week and still haven’t even looked at it today.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong. I’m in Northern Ireland so an alternative repair option seems unlikely.

Any help would be appreciated. The work is queuing up for it.

    Thanks
    Kenny

strange that spandex would sit on it… i think you are describing bright yellow discs with two legs attached, these smoke when powered, did i read that right?

    Thanks for the reply Dave.

It’s hard to see the exact source of the flame but it is somewhere behind green coloured cylinders rather than discs. Should have taken a pic to explain better.

I’m pretty sure it’s burning through a circuit board.

Just had an update from them. Needed a new power supply. It’s getting tested today to confirm that’s solved the problem.
