Mag sheet through vinyl cutter
Posted by Paul Munford on 14 October 2010 at 10:37Hi All, Can anyone tell me, Is there a magnetic sheet product that can be digitally printed and then cut using a Roland VP540 ?
I have been asked to quote for approx 4 – 500 letters for indoor display, 150mm high and wondered if this is possible?
Cheers,

Sorry if I’m not getting this, but I reckon if you ran magnetic through your cutter, let alone that much, you’d need a new machine before you’d finished…

Ive got the Grafitp magnetic, ant I wouldnt let it near my cutter. Its getting on for 1mm thick. You might get away with cutting the mag business card material, but then you run into durability issues as Im presuming these are magnetic for a reason.

Find some one with a zund flat bed cutter. They cut just about any thing.

we just printed a load of magnetic material prints, i mean a thousand items…. we cut with javelin and many new blades.

Thanks Guys
Have spoken to a trade supplier with flat bed cutting capabilities and they seem confident they can do it so I will go with them.
I thought I would ask the question in case anyone knew of a magnetic sheet product that could be cut using a standard vinyl cutter or on a print and cut machine such as the Roland but it seems it doesn’t exist.
I have in the past cut very basic shapes on the vinyl cutter using vehicle grade magnetic. I had to put a carrier sheet under the mag sheet and run it through at a very slow speed at maximum pressure. The end result was that the mag sheet was scored and each shape had to be snapped out of the sheet. This wont work for me this time as my cutter doesn’t have opos and I’m reluctant to put the mag sheet near the Roland in case of any electromagnetic interference that may screw up circuitry.
