    Hello

We’re considering trying to make savings by switching to Lyson Series 2000. They say it’s a direct replacement for eco-sol max, no flush necessary, just plug and play – apparently even in the middle of a job the colours are an exact match so you don’t need to get new icc profiles.

Saving almost £300 for a full set seems tempting but is it worth the risk?

The machine is in Roland warranty and lyson/nazdar say they’ll cover any maintenance and parts due to the ink causing problems.

    Cheers

I don’t know about solvent/eco solvent inks but Lyson aqueous inks were absolutely brilliant & they were always very helpful if I contacted them. I would think the inks are top quality & shouldn’t give you a problem. My only concern would be if something went wrong, Lyson/Nazdar say they will cover cost of media & parts but what about labor costs?? Other thing is how do you prove the fault was caused by the inks, Lyson will no doubt say it wasn’t despite what roland say & at the end of the day you end up with a hefty bill.
I might be inclined to wait until the warranty expired & then look at it again before renewing any warranty.

Thanks Martin – I see colourific make similar claims to lyson about being 100% eco sol max compatible – just plug in and print – any experience with colourific?

Think most of them do now Jamie, I don’t run a solvent machine so have no experience with the inks, I only know of Lyson from running dye/pigment machines myself plus speaking to photographers who did fine art printing & used nothing else.
I know it’s a different type of machine but I switched my Falcon ii from Mutoh to Jetbest aqueous inks without any problems what so ever. Obviously I had no warranty to take into consideration lol.
If Lyson had supported the machine then I would probably have gone down that road but the machine was to old.

My experience with Lyson has always been pretty good. I would NEVER change inks half way through a run though, that’s just asking for trouble.

Thanks Stafford, I made a mistake, the warranty expired. Roland has offered to re-cover it again after an inspection, but I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered Lyson. We run Lyson in our grenadier, but its a different series of ink and is bulk rather than cartridge.

    Hi
i have run the lyson inks for years and had very few problems, had a problem with the cyan head clogging but cannot put it down 100% to ink has had pump go down at the same time and did not realise. Could never get it back to 100% though.

I would however recommend a flush out before the change over and head rank print out plus test prints so if you have a problem you have proof that all was ok before the ink went in.

I have signs laminated outdoors in excess of 5 years & have held up better than Oracle 551 vinyl
